Former Headteacher

I initially led the school to recovery after a turbulent period in its history. I led the school into joining a multi-academy trust. By April 2019 the school was back as an Ofsted ‘Good’ school. I managed the school effectively through the pandemic. By 2022 the children’s learning had recovered effectively and this resulted in the school achieving its best ever end of KS2 outcomes.

I believe that happy children learn. If children enjoy coming to school, enjoy learning and feel safe then they will thrive educationally. Visitors always commented on the strong culture of the school.

My mantra was – if you look after the person then you get the best out of the professional. This made me a trusted, respected leader who could bring the best out of people. I developed mentoring and coaching skills which raised standards across the school.

Aspects of my role included compliance and risk management. I ensured that health and safety across the school was effective, managing the role of Site Manager. I kept an up-to-date risk register, managing potential risks, and applying control measures.

I was accountable to the multi-academy trust and to the Local Governing Body and produced reports and statistics to show progress or highlight areas of concern.

I line managed a close team of school leaders, appraising their work and setting targets. I led 70 people across the school and addressed any identified underperformance.

I ensured that educational standards were high across the school from Early Years to Year Six, achieving excellent outcomes in all year groups.

I managed communication with all stakeholders, including pupils, parents, governors and the community. This included verbal, written and social media. I created good community links. I had effective relationships with all stakeholders.

I wrote and managed the school development plan ensuring that everyone knew the areas to improve. I took an innovative approach to solving problems. I always acted on feedback.
