I am passionate about making a difference – my career led me from teacher to headteacher before leaving working with schools in a local authority. I am also a private maths tutor and an experienced school governor.

I love my current role, working for a local authority. It is varied and interesting. My background in education helps me bring some insight to the role of School Organisation Manager.

In my previous role as a successful headteacher, I led a school to become an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ school in 2019 and in 2022 we were working hard to ensure that aspects of the provision were ‘Outstanding’. By the time I left the school, its results were in the top 5% of the country. Over the years I united and upskilled the staff and ensured that everyone performed at the best of their ability. A shared belief that ‘happy children learn’ meant that standards were excellent. Through a focus on excellent teaching, I ensured that the children were set to achieve at all levels. I created a community of parents who supported the school and bought into my vision of a school where happy children learn. Children thrived as a result.

I have effective leadership and management skills, influencing and motivating staff members to do their best. I have a recognised CIPD HR Support qualification and have proven myself to be an effective people manager. I have managed diverse teams, as large as 70 people, in a variety of roles. I have nurtured colleagues to develop themselves professionally, including teaching assistants becoming teachers and teachers becoming school leaders. I have a qualification in counselling. Colleagues have blossomed under my leadership.

Strong change management skills enable me to lead effective service improvement. I use careful analysis of feedback and identified risks so that I can identify long-term solutions to problems. I can motivate and influence people to be positive about change, ensuring improvements for the future. I have a qualification in lean organisation management.

Compliance, including health and safety, is an area in which I have strong experience. I can work within statutory policies and follow best practice. I can manage budgets and ensure that best value is achieved.

Communication is a strength and I can use different forms effectively. Much of my work has been public facing and so can use verbal and written communication well, and have experience of using social media (including a qualification in digital marketing). I am confident in the use of IT and Maths is a strength.

I have effective strategic planning skills. I have created service improvement plans and ensured that stakeholders are aware of the strategies we would take to achieve the desired outcomes. My education background means that I look for ways for stakeholders to learn so that sustainable change can be achieved.
