Local Authority Officer

I have gained significant experience working as a Local Authority Officer. I am the Principal Manager – Admissions & Commissioning.

My role is varied and involves:

  • Providing strategic leadership and management of the school admissions, Special Needs Commissioning, School Transport and Alternative Provision services and teams
  • Opening new resource provisions to ensure needs are met
  • Managing the availability of special needs places in special schools across the borough
  • Supporting the quality of education in independent schools used to place pupils
  • Supporting the compliance of alternative provisions in Warrington
  • Managing the school transport policy and determining eligibility
  • Managing a school transport budget and elements of the high needs budget
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Supporting decision making on school place offers and free school meal eligibility
  • Day-to-day management, supervision and development of staff
  • Improving school leaders’ understanding of admissions processes through the production of appropriate communication
  • Liaising and relationship building with school and trust leaders
  • Contributing to the identification of school-related concerns
  • Providing timely and acurate statutory provision of information, guidance and support to schools, staff and parents
  • Analysing data and making recommendations on future school provision
